BIOMATERRA Construction Solutions is a Montreal-based natural and ecological building materials company. We supply a complete range of bio-sourced products — hemp hurds, hemp and wood fiber insulation, lime products, natural finishes, breathable membranes, and tapes — to homeowners, self-builders, contractors, and builders across Canada.
We exist because we believe the construction industry can do better. Healthier materials, lower carbon footprints, and high-performance buildings shouldn't be out of reach. BIOMATERRA is here to make natural construction accessible, familiar, and achievable — for everyone.

Our Story
Built on shared values, not just shared work.
The founding of BIOMATERRA wasn't planned so much as it was inevitable. Rami and Maxime first crossed paths years ago while designing homes, drawn together by a shared curiosity about bio-sourced materials and a desire to build differently. When the opportunity arose to bring a natural building materials company to life, those same values — and the same people — came back together.
What unites us is simple: we care about the world, about people, and about building in ways that strengthen rather than deplete. We believe in cooperation over competition, in sharing knowledge freely, and in making the built environment a force for good.

Rami Kayello
Co-Founder, PhD Building Engineering, Certified Passive House Designer
Rami holds a PhD in Building Engineering from Concordia University, where his thesis examined sustainable housing for Inuit communities, with field testing conducted in Iqaluit. As an embodied carbon and energy modelling lead, he has guided high-rise residential developments to achieve Zero Carbon certification and delivered Net Zero Emissions Strategy Studies for tens of projects. He's also worked hands-on with hempcrete, developing pre-fabricated panel systems for bioclimatic, low-carbon buildings. He's driven by bringing bio-based materials to the forefront of high-performance building design, and by holistic solutions that serve communities and the planet.
Maxime Feuiltault
Co-Founder
Maxime is an entrepreneur and father of five who founded his first natural building materials company seven years ago. That experience gave him a hands-on, ground-level understanding of what it actually takes to get healthy, natural materials from the workshop onto a job site. At Biomaterra, he's focused on turning that understanding into products and processes that make natural materials accessible to builders and self-builders alike, not just a niche option for the already-converted.

Samuel Leclerc, X-ECO
RBQ Contractor, P.Eng. OIQ
Founder of X-Éco, Samuel Leclerc brings over a decade in construction, from residential renovation to municipal civil engineering, to bioclimatic and biocompatible building. X-Éco designs permit-ready and construction plans for bioclimatic homes and greenhouses, builds with hemp concrete panels, and restores heritage structures. Their consultation service guides projects from feasibility through construction, and their training program supports both self-builders and professionals.
Diane Bastien, Bâtiments Vivants
PhD Building Engineering, Certified Passive House Designer,
Diane Bastien helps clients design and inspect homes for genuine indoor health, combining building science with geobiology and building biology (baubiologie). Her services range from site selection and electromagnetic field assessments to passive solar design, energy modelling, and full new-home inspections covering radon, VOCs, mould, and airtightness. Her flagship Healthy Home Coaching program pairs these site studies with a series of coaching sessions, guiding a project from land selection through move-in so clients end up in a home that actively supports their wellbeing.
