Application

Poraver is a lightweight, load-bearing mineral aggregate made from 100% recycled glass, expanded under heat into small, round, air-filled granules. Purely mineral, non-combustible, and available in six grain sizes, Poraver lets you dial in exactly the right balance of insulation, structural strength, and workability for the job—from a fine plaster additive to a bulk fill under a slab.

Each grain size is suited to a different role in the building envelope:

  • 0.04–0.125 mm (fine powder): Used as a functional filler in paints, coatings, and fine construction chemical products where a smooth, lightweight, mineral texture is needed without adding grit.
  • 0.1–0.4 mm: The workhorse grade for fine plasters, dry mortars, tile adhesives, and pasty EIFS-style adhesives—adds insulating value and lightness without disrupting a smooth trowel finish.
  • 0.25–0.5 mm: Sized for insulating renders and lime plasters, giving finish coats real thermal performance while keeping the surface fine enough for a traditional lime or mineral aesthetic.
  • 0.5–1 mm: A versatile mid-grade for insulating plasters, lightweight screeds, and structural lightweight concrete—balances thermal performance with compressive strength.
  • 1–2 mm: The primary grade for structural lightweight concrete, insulating fills, and floor screeds, where load-bearing capacity matters as much as weight reduction.
  • 2–4 mm: The coarsest grade, used as a loose or lightly bonded bulk fill—ideal below slabs, around foundations, and in floor buildups where drainage, a capillary break, and insulation all need to happen in a single layer.

Poraver's versatility makes it a natural fit for:

  • Below-Grade Insulation: As a loose fill under slabs and around foundation walls, Poraver replaces foam insulation with a mineral, non-capillary layer that insulates, drains, and can be vented for radon and soil-gas mitigation.
  • Subfloor & Screed Systems: Mixed with cement into lightweight, insulating fills, Poraver levels floors, buries pipes and cables, and adds thermal performance—without the dead-load penalty of a standard sand-cement screed.
  • Lime & Natural Plasters: Blended into a lime or mineral render, Poraver turns a simple finish coat into a genuine insulating layer—lighter, more thermally effective, less prone to cracking, and still fully breathable.
  • Lightweight & Structural Concrete: Used as a partial or full aggregate replacement, Poraver reduces dead load and improves thermal performance in cast elements, from foundations to precast panels.
  • Complementary Envelope Systems: As a mineral, breathable aggregate, Poraver pairs naturally with hempcrete assemblies—insulating the fills, plasters, and floor systems that complete a hemp-lime envelope.

Benefits

  • Made from 100% post-consumer recycled glass—supports a circular-economy building material chain
  • Non-combustible, Fire Class A1 (DIN 4102/EN 13501-1)
  • Purely mineral: no VOCs, no off-gassing
  • Rot-, mold-, and pest-resistant—offers no organic food source, remains dimensionally stable long-term
  • Non-capillary: acts as a genuine capillary break wherever moisture control matters
  • Vapor-permeable in plaster and render applications—supports a breathable wall assembly
  • High compressive strength relative to its weight—insulates without sacrificing load-bearing capacity
  • Increases mortar and render yield significantly, reducing material use and transport per unit of coverage
  • Chemically inert and pH-stable, resistant to heat, cold, moisture, and UV
